September 1, 2017. Preschool is already in full swing and we are delighted to have such a wonderful group of children. We have had many activities, songs and stories to help us learn about our preschool, exploring the inside and outside environments for play opportunities. Most importantly, we are building authentic relationships with the children.

There is no charge for this event.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL—SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 17th We are excited that our Ice Cream Social will include The Happy Pig Food Truck again this year, thanks to Jason and Lezli Beiswanger (Jay’s parents). This is a perfect opportunity for children and families to be together so please mark your calendars now. We will end the evening with a slide show -- you can see what your kiddos have been up to while they are in preschool! An invitation and more information will be coming soon.
WATER DAYS-THURSDAY, FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 8 Bring your child to preschool dressed in a bathing suit. Make sure your child is well coated with sunscreen. Also bring a towel and change of clothes. Please label everything. Water and children are a magical combination and everyone loves our water days—the laughter is wonderful! Water play fosters learning in all developmental areas and encourages children to use their imaginations and advance their social and emotional skills. We often add water exploration to our environment, both inside and outside.
HUGE PARKING LOT SALE is Thursday, Friday –OCTOBER 5,6 We need lots of good stuff and lots of good people to help us sort, move and sell the items. This is an important fundraiser for our preschool. We are continually improving our preschool and the monies you help raise will help us implement some exciting ideas. Please, please sign up to help!!
BLOCK PARTY Throughout the fall we take our curriculum outside. This concept was inspired by an exhibit at the Chicago Children’s museum and encourages coactive play and active learning.
APPROPRIATE DRESS Preschool can be and usually is a very messy place by adult standards. It is important that a child does not feel pressured to keep clothes clean. Special outfits can inhibit the freedom to explore and engage. The children play outside every day. Even on cold days it is healthy to be outside. During warm weather, water, and sand are an everyday part of play. Always have extra, weather appropriate, labeled clothing (which you would not regret losing) in your child’s cubby. Children must wear closed toed tennis shoes to insure safety. Sunscreen should be applied at home, every day.
REMIND—this is an easy to use communication tool to connect with our families. It is a safe server that reveals no one’s cell numbers. You can sign up as many phones as you like. We send REMIND texts to let families know about important events, school closings and school activities (such as water days). If you would like to receive preschool texts please follow the simple instructions on the attached sheet.
We are off to a Great Start!
